Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA IV) finally has an official release date: April 29. And yes, that’s 2008.
GTA IV had originally been slated for release during October 2007 (presumably a date that inspired Microsoft to release Halo 3 in September), but Take Two and Rockstar Games pushed GTA IV back for untold reasons. The rumor at the time of the GTA IV delay suggested that it was due to problems bringing the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game up to a similar level of polish.
With GTA IV now just about complete for both systems, Rockstar and Take Two say the game will ship for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 on the same day. And again, that day is April 29, 2008.
