2K Sports is giving away $1 million again this year, as the company announced the Perfect Game Competition will make a return upon the release of MLB 2K11 on Major League Baseball’s opening day on April 1. Through the MLB 2K11 Perfect Game Competition, the first gamer on either the Xbox 360 or PS3 to pitch a perfect game will win $1 million instantly.
Only 20 pitchers in real-life baseball history have pitched a perfect game, but last year a gamer — Alabama’s Wade McGilberry — achieved the milestone and walked away with $1 million. This year, 2K Sports’ competition is once again wide open to any gamer 13 years old or older.
Gamers can begin their pre-season workout by buying MLB 2K10 at a reduced price of $29.99. The special price reflects the intense competition that is expected from this year’s chance at the $1 million prize. Here are the links to buy the game at that special discounted price:
“Our cover athlete, Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies, is one of those rare pitchers to have thrown a perfect game,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing at 2K Sports. “We think that it’s only fitting that he’ll be inspiring gamers to step onto the mound for their chance at perfection.”
