Sony next week will release the PS3 Wireless Keypad, a full qwerty keyboard that fits the Sixaxis and DualShock 3 controllers to enable faster chatting in-game and, eventually, in PlayStation Home interactions.
In addition to the standard keyboard functions, the Wireless Keypad for PS3 has a unique “touch pad mode” that allows people to use the keys almost like a laptop’s touchpad/mouse setup. It also has shortcut buttons. You can see all of these features in action in the video below.
The PS3 Wireless Keypad is a Bluetooth device and can thus be paired with the PS3 and charged by connecting it with a USB cable. As a Bluetooth device, it can also be used with any other Bluetooth-enabled device, such as a smart phone.
The PS3 Wireless Keypad will be available during the week of Dec. 2 for $49.99. You can also buy it from Amazon using the following link: PlayStation 3 Wireless Keypad.
