Usually you don’t think of Tecmo Koei when mentioning third-person action titles, but they are trying to change that perception with the release of Quantum Theory.
Tecmo Koei America today announced that the fantasy, third-person/action shooter Quantum Theory has started to ship to retailers nationwide. Deploying action fans to an all-new battlefield populated with towering monsters, frenetic gunfights and an unpredictable landscape, Quantum Theory is enlisting players on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
As Syd, a shadowy warrior with a mysterious past, players will rip through armies of enemies to enter the “Living Tower” to take it down for good. Infected with a living substance known as the diablosis, the very battleground in which players launch their assault erupts into a shifting landscape of obstacles and unrelenting action. Using everything at their disposal, including a full armory of long-range and short-range weaponry, players will encounter a host of soldiers and creatures infected with the overpowering diablosis on their mission to rid the world of the crippling and rapidly spreading infection.
Fortunately, Syd isn’t fighting alone. Together with Filena, a warrior as enigmatic as she is graceful, Syd will combine devastating partner-based attacks with kinetic gunplay to blast through everything standing between himself and bringing down the Tower. A ferocious and nimble athlete, Filena combines her acrobatic prowess with Syd’s brute strength to turn the tide of war against the diablosis. Using the abilities of both powerful warriors, players will scale the tower as obstacles, bridges and ridges erupt from every corner, using the shifting surroundings to their strategic advantage.
Players will also take the fight online in a series of multiplayer modes designed to infect online competition with volatile warzones. Players will need to blast through the ever-evolving environment using a brimming armory of high-tech weaponry and a full roster of melee attacks in order to succeed against friends and foes.
And there’s only one goal – take down the “Living Tower” and exterminate the diablosis before the infection spreads even further.
Quantum Theory is available now on PS3 and Xbox 360 for MSRP $59.99. The game is rated ESRB “M” for Mature.
The changing terrain does seem to be a unique aspect to the terrain, and hopefully it turns out better than what happened in Fracture. Look for it today on store shelves.
