The latest Spider-Man video game, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, has shipped today for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii. Because there’s no Spider-Man movie this time around, the new action-adventure game follows Spidey’s adventures in the aftermath of a cataclysmic alien invasion.
Web of Shadows features an all-new combat system that combines web-slinging and customizable superpowers that players can use throughout the open-world (and destructible) Big Apple. In battle, Spider-Man’s speed and agility are tested with fast-moving acrobatic combat, powerful new web-slinging moves and destructive combo attacks. As in previous games, Spider-Man can also take the fight on the ground or 100 stories up onto the rooftops.
The story in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is written by Marvel comic-book writer Brian Reed. In it, players can play in Spidey’s classic red suit or the formidable black suit, battling with or against a huge cast of Super Heroes and Super Villains and switching allegiances instantly mid-game as they decide which missions will ultimately save mankind.
