Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 hit the retail links today, as Electronic Arts shipped its Xbox 360 and PS3 game to stores in North America. This latest version features personalized gameplay via Tiger Woods’ real-life swing coach, Hank Haney, as well as new graphics, a new user interface and interactive/social mini-games.
The Performance Coach option with Haney has the coach assisting gamers as they hit the links. Following each round, the digital version of Haney will deliver customized feedback on a player’s performance. In Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09, a player’s skill level constantly adjusts throughout the round, just as it would during a real game, so this feedback will be important to improve your digital game.
Also new to the game is Club Tuner, which gives gamers the opportunity to calibrate their clubs to fit their personal tendencies and preferences. The Club Tuner allows gamers the ability to create a bag of clubs that fit specific course conditions or needs.
The online aspects of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 have also been enhanced, including new features within EA Sports GamerNet and a new game engine that powers simultaneous play within the game. The GamerNet changes include Instant Challenges, seamless integration into gameplay and all-new daily leaderboards. The new online engine, meanwhile, gives as many as four players the ability to play each hole at the same time, allowing players to swing when they are ready rather than wait for the person in front of them to finish.
A Wii-specific version of the game called Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 All-Play is also available starting today.
