Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment took the wraps off a Speed Racer videogame today, saying that the Wii, DS and PS2 products will all be based on the upcoming film by the Wachowski brothers. The game will release for the Wii and DS systems as the Speed Racer film hits theaters in 2008, while the PlayStation 2 version will ship alongside the movie’s DVD counterpart.
The Wii and PS2 versions will “pull a King Kong” and closely mimic the movie’s action and assets, as the car-fu style of action will closely represent the on-screen action and the Wachowski brothers will lend direction and assets to the game-development team.
In the Wii and PS2 versions of Speed Racer – The Videogame, players will take on the role of the characters from the film, getting behind the wheels of each character’s signature vehicles. No information about the DS version was available, other than it’s also on the way.
