Fallout 3 has finally gone gold for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, Bethesda announced today. Fallout 3, which we awarded Best Game of E3 2008, will be available for all three platforms in North America on Oct. 28, in Europe and Australia on Oct. 30, and in the UK on Oct. 31.
What we played of Fallout 3 on Xbox 360 and PS3 at E3 was nothing short of astounding. Here’s hoping the full game delivers on our brief sit-down time with it.
Set more than 200 years following a nuclear war, Fallout 3 has players create any kind of character they want (a la the Elder Scrolls series, which Bethesda also created) and explore the open-world wastes of Washington, D.C. Players will fight for survival against Super Mutants, Ghouls, Raiders and other dangers of the Wasteland.
Combat can be played either in real time a la a standard shooter, or via the VATS targeting system, which has players pause the on-screen action and specifically target individual body parts of oncoming enemies, each of which has a different percentage of successfully being hit.
