Normally “FPS” in gaming parlance stands for “first-person shooter.” An indie game slated to release later this year hopes to change that perception, as a Soda Drinker Pro Xbox One version is coming via the ID@Xbox program.
Soda Drinker Pro is one of the oddest ideas we’ve heard in some time for a game. Sure, Mt. Dew and Xbox consoles go hand in hand, but to see Soda Drinker Pro — billed as “the world’s most advanced FPS (First Person Soda) drinking simulation — coming to Xbox One is just plain weird.
Soda Drinker Pro will be available through ID@Xbox, the self-publishing program for independent developers on Xbox One. The game already exists on PC.
This new console version includes more than 100 simulations, plus 10 exclusives for Xbox One. It will also feature Kinect for Xbox One support, giving players the option to truly feel the cup in their hands as they grasp their Soda and drink it into infinity.
Weirded out yet?
The Soda Drinker Pro Xbox One version also features new gameplay modes “that include the hyper-realistic simulation mode” as well as Achievements and other surprises that will be announced closer to the launch date.
A release date has not yet been announced.
Unless the Kinect has a new sensor that spits fizzy water at gamers, I don’t know what could make virtual soda drinking a “hyper-realistic” experience. So, let’s just hear exactly what the developer has to say.
